Summer in the DMV
There is nothing I enjoy doing more than to spend time with family and friends during the summer months. Here where we live, in and around Montgomery County Maryland, there is always something to do!
There’s still plenty of summer left to explore! If you’re looking for ways to get outside during the rest of July and August, here are a few of my local county favorites:
Free Summer Concerts – Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy live music at Montgomery Parks and community venues throughout the county.
Hit the Trails – Explore miles of scenic hiking and biking at Black Hill Regional Park, Little Bennett Regional Park, Rock Creek Regional Park, and Seneca Creek State Park.
Get on the Water – Rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard at Lake Needwood or Little Seneca Lake for a relaxing day outdoors.
Visit Brookside Gardens – Stroll through beautiful gardens, seasonal blooms, and peaceful walking paths—perfect for a morning or evening escape.
Sunset Yoga & Outdoor Fitness – Join outdoor wellness classes hosted by Montgomery Parks at select locations during July and August.
Outdoor Family Entertainment – Catch Parks Playhouse performances, nature programs, and kid-friendly activities happening across Montgomery County parks.
Montgomery County Agricultural Fair – One of the biggest summer traditions returns in August with carnival rides, animals, food, live entertainment, and exhibits for all ages.
Farmers Markets – Pick up fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and local favorites while supporting Montgomery County farmers and small businesses.
Whether you’re planning a family outing, date night, or solo adventure, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the outdoors this summer in Montgomery County.
